3. Salvation Army Big Island Locations
The Salvation Army’s Hilo Temple Corps Community Center serves the people of Hawaii residing on the Big Island of Hawai’i. Salvation Army provides emergency assistance to families needing help including food, emergency services and clothing vouchers.It also provides seasonal assistance to families for their special needs during the holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas, and the essential back-to-school needs of children. The Hilo Temple Corps offers character building programs, christian education, community recreation programs, day care, music & arts programs, women ministries, and worship services.
4.Hawaii Island Home For Recovery
HIHR is committed to helping individuals on the Big Island overcome their barriers from home and houselessness by providing transitional and permanent supportive housing programs.
5. Steadfast Housing Development Corporation
Steadfast Housing Development Corporation incorporated as a non-profit entity in 1989 and combined experts in housing and mental health services to provide a community housing program for adults with serious and persistent mental illnesses.
At Neighborhood Place of Puna, we believe that every family should have access to the resources and support they need to thrive, to raise their children in a safe, stable, and nurturing home.
We are striving to create a non-stigmatizing way to provide families with underage children a variety of resources and supports to address concrete needs, housing instability, skill building, developmentally appropriate parenting, social isolation, etc., while also offering opportunities for healing, growth, learning, and personal development.
We want to help families do more than just meet their basic needs. It is our hope that Neighborhood Place of Puna is a place where families discover opportunities to grow, thrive, and succeed.
Serving Hawai‘i since 1947, Catholic Charities Hawai’i provides a wide range of social services with dignity, compassion, social justice, and a commitment to excellence.
Services include housing rental assistance, senior services, family and youth, counseling, immigration and much more.
Project Hawai’i, Inc. provides services to over 1,600 individual homeless children annually across the islands of O’ahu, Maui and the Big Island of Hawai’i. The nonprofit strives to change the lives of children by providing a sense of stability through interactive programs, including educational summer camps, holiday events, school support, and educational training. Additionally, the nonprofit provides monthly outreach support to assure that children are supplied with healthy meals, personal hygiene care, and emergency services.
