‘Mukashi Mukashi’ Sale at Hawaii Japanese Center, Sept. 7 & 8
The Hawaii Japanese Center will hold its popular “Mukashi Mukashi” sale on Saturday, September 7 (8 a.m. – 9 a.m. MEMBERS ONLY), 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. (General Public), and on Sunday, September 8, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
The sale features vintage items donated to the center by island residents, including ceramic ware (dishes, platters, tea sets, vases, sake sets); Japanese dolls; books; artwork and scrolls; kimono; obi; furniture; and more!
Traditional Japanese children’s stories often begin with the phrase, “Mukashi, Mukashi,” or “Once upon a time.” In that vein, each item at this very special sale has its own story to tell of its journey from Japan to the homes of families rooted here in Hawaii.
Proceeds from the “Mukashi Mukashi” sale support the Hawaii Japanese Center in its efforts to preserve the history and heritage of Japanese and other immigrants here in Hawaii.
