Aloha!

The American Red Cross is seeking volunteers to take training in Emergency Evacuation Sheltering. These people will be trained and ready to respond should the need arise due to the Mauna Loa lava flow.

Volunteers Urgently Needed for the Following Positions in our Community:
Shelter Workers
Shelter Supervisors
Sheltering Health/Mental Service Workers- License required

Requirements:
Willing to complete online training (approx. 6 hours total)
Must be willing to work in person in a disaster shelter before, during and/or after a disaster event
At least 18 years of age
Proficient in English
Available locally for 5 days to fill various shelter shifts when shelters are opened
Must have access to internet connectivity to take training and sign up for shifts
For Supervisor Roles:
All the above as well as 2 years supervisory experience with 5 or more workers
For Health/Mental Health Service Workers:
Experience as a charge nurse, EMS team lead or physician
Current, Active License
For deployment (deploying is not required): Available to go beyond our region for a minimum of 14 days to work in a shelter
Have a valid driver’s license
Willing and able to live and work in adverse conditions
