Welcome to our weekly adopt-an-animal feature that we recently revived! We’ve partnered with local rescue organization KARES (Kohala Animal Relocation and Education Service) to give Big Island Pulse readers who are looking to adopt a pet a look at some of the wonderful animals that they have available for adoption. This week we are getting to know Max, a gorgeous, young retriever who would make the perfect playmate. He’s just one of many adoptable pets available, but he is at the top of their list for needing a home.
Max is an energetic male retriever mix with big brown eyes and a happy personality. We’re not sure of Max’s past, he is a bit shy and reserved when he meets new people, but warms up quickly, especially if there is a toy to play with or a ball to run after. Max is under 2 years old and has good manners. He knows how to sit and is food motivated. Max has a clean bill of health, is house trained, fixed, and microchipped. He is good with other dogs as long as there are proper introductions. We are not sure how he is with cats or chickens.
For more information on Max call 333-6299. If you want to adopt a pet, check out our Facebook page, as well as our website www.kareshawaii.org to learn more about the other adoptable pets that need homes.
These wonderful animals are also still in need of good homes:
