Just when we thought we couldn’t squeeze any more holidays into February, this weekend is “National Love Your Pet Day,” and Gecko Girlz Shave Ice is hosting a special event on Saturday. This day celebrates the bond between humans and their pets and encourages them to do something special for them like giving them extra care, pampering, treats, an extra long walk, or anything that makes a pet feel special.
To help make dogs feel special, Gecko Girlz Shave Ice is rolling out their new puppuccinos! These not-too-sweet treats are made with whipped cream and topped with Milk Bone dog biscuits. The bonus treat will launch on Saturday, February 20 and will become a permanent addition to the menu. And the best part is they are always free!
In addition to the puppuccinos, Gecko Girlz has partnered with Hawaii Animal Kuleana Alliance (HAKA) for an adoption event. The event will feature animals from KARES and Adopt a Dog Kona. Pets will be available to meet from 12 to 4 pm and will be located right next to Gecko Girlz (by the volleyball courts near Outback Steakhouse). There will also be some fun activities for the kiddos!
So, whether your home is already full of furry, finned, or feathered friends, or you’re looking for someone new to welcome in, celebrate pets of all shapes and sizes with Gecko Girlz Shave Ice. They’ll have plenty of delicious treats for humans to choose from, including their famous shave ice made with natural ingredients, refreshing lilikoi lemonade, and delicious organic iced coffee latte. Check out Lisa’s thoughts on her recent visit to check out their shave ice HERE. Their featured treats for this month include the Island Breeze Hawaiian Style Shave Ice with popping pearls, Cherry Lemonade slush, and Ice Cream Sundae with Strawberry Puree. Gecko Girlz Shave Ice is open daily from 12 to 9 p.m. and is located at 75-5809 Ali’i Drive, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740.

In addition, HAKA will be hosting a pet food drive in order to provide assistance to members of the community who are struggling to feed their pets. They are currently accepting financial support HERE and will be accepting unopened wet and dry dog and cat food, cat litter, and accessories at the event. The donations will be used to assemble kits that will be distributed in rural areas on Hawai’i Island. All donations are tax deductible.
