As we ease into the next month, winding down from a busy April full of festivals and fun, there’s still much more to look forward to in this last week of April and leading into May.
Here’s a look at what’s happening this coming week on our lovely Big Island.

Tavana: (Friday, April 26th, 5pm, Kona)
Head on down to Willie’s Hot Chicken on Friday night for a special performance from Grab The Reef Entertainment And Big Hitter Productions presenting Tavana with Special Guest Ronnie V. Tavana is a multi-instrumentalist from Honolulu, who uses his feet and hands to jam, playing guitar, banjo, lap steel, or ukulele and singing soulful, island-inspired Rock and Blues. MORE INFO HERE

KidX Hawaiian Plant Month: (Friday, April 26th, 4pm-6pm, Keauhou)
April’s KidX will correlate with Hawaiian Plant Month. The event is free and offers local keiki a chance to learn about Hawaiian plants as part of April being Native Hawaiian Plant Month that recognizes the diversity and biocultural value of roughly 1,400 native plant species. The event will happen in the Keauhou Shopping Center’s courtyard. MORE INFO HERE

Tonic Oasis: (Friday, April 26th, 5:30pm-7:30pm, Papaaloa)
If you’re on the Hamakua Coast this weekend, check out Tonic Oasis, comprised of Dane Giraldin (guitar) & Blue (vocals & guitar). They will be covering jazz, blues, Latin and soul covers with a few originals. MORE INFO HERE

Kilauea Military Camp(KMC) Lava Lounge: (Thursday-Saturday, 5/ 6pm-7/9pm, Volcano)
Live music, dancing, games and drinks! $10 cover Enjoy an evening of relaxed cool ambience at The Lava Lounge at KMC. Saturday April 27th come out for the After Party Band, playing all your dancing favorites! MORE INFO HERE

Hawai’i Island Adult Care prouldy presents Care-oke night: (Saturday, April 27th, 4pm, Hilo)
A fundraising night of song, this Saturday, 4:00PM-8:00PM at the Sangha Hall in Hilo.
Entry is FREE to all, and a minimum $20 donation gets you into the singing competition where you can win great prizes including international and domestic flights for 2 on Southwest Airlines. Food and drinks will be available for purchase and you can bid on the silent auction.
The HIAC Care-oke Fundraiser, this Saturday, 4:00PM, at Sangha Hall. Special Mahalos to Hawai’i Watch Live and Loihi Studios.

CLAYventure Morning: (Saturday, Aprth 27th, 9:30am-11am, Hilo)
Bring the keiki and head to the East Hawaii Cultural Center where students will learn fundamental clay techniques such as pinch pots, coil building, and slab forms. MORE INFO HERE

World Tai Chi & Qigong Day: (Saturday, April 27th, 10 am-12-pm, Kona)
Gather in the name of peace at 10 am at the Old Kona Airport where attendees will be practicing Qigong and Tai Chi as part of the international World Tai Chi and Qigong Day. Hawai’i will be the last place in the 24 hour effort to push peace as part of this global event. MORE INFO HERE ON FB

Lei Day Festival: (Sunday, April 28th, 10 am-1pm, Waikoloa)
It’s that time of the year again – Lei Day! Celebrate the spirit of Aloha at the Lei Day Festival at the Kings’ Shops in Waikoloa for the celebration. The first 50 attendees will receive a special free giveaway. The event will include plenty of family-friendly activities, dancing, shopping, and the 2nd Annual Cocktail Contest Sponsored by Kuleana Rum and Waikoloa Beach Marriott. MORE INFO HERE

HI RISE HANA HOU: (Sunday, April 28th, 2:30 and 7:30 pm, Hilo)
For $10, guest can see this Big Island original film that started in 2016 when creators Josh Ballauer and Chelsie Settlemier set out to film life in Pahoa. See what they created at the Hilo Palace Theater this weekend. MORE INFO HERE

Monday Night Jazz Jam Hilo: (Monday, April 29th, 6-9pm, Hilo)
An all inclusive Jazz Jam with a rotating house band. Created to strengthen the Big Island Jazz community through networking & jamming.

Under the New Moon Talk Story with Kumu Keala Ching: (Tuesday, April 30, 5pm-6:30pm, Kona)
Under the New Moon | Nā Ali‘i Series is a FREE monthy event that occurs every last Tuesday of the month on Ka’ukulaelae Bayview Lawn at the OUTRIGGER Kona Resort & Spa. Enjoy storytelling, live music, and hula performances hosted by Kumu Keala Ching. MORE INFO HERE
