Here’s a look at some upcoming events, beginning the week of May 10 and lasting until May 16. 

Talk to a Park Ranger: Unveiling the Wonders of Nature and Culture at Uēkahune (Friday, May 10; 10am-2pm, Volcano): 

Join an engaging and lively 30-to-45-minute introduction to the summit of the Big Island volcano on short guided walk from the table at Uēkahuna. Meet a friendly ranger at the Uēkahuna parking area and dive into the captivating eruptive history of Kīlauea volcano, where the earth itself comes alive with stories. Learn more here.

Mother’s Day Kona Commons (Sat., May 11, 9:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m., Kona):

For all the west side families out there looking for something fun to take their beloved mother’s to this coming weekend, look no further than Kona Commons. There will be an outdoor market all day, perfect for shopping and eating and making your mother feel special. Learn more here.

Liv-a-Little Drag Bingo Benefiting Get Ready Hawai’i, (Sunday, May, 12,4PM, Kona):

Each month My Bar Kona holds their Liv-a-Little Drag Bingo fundraiser for a different non-profit in West Hawaii, hosted by Liv Lively. This week will be a non-profit Get Ready Hawaii that provides school supplies and backpacks to children in need in West Hawaii. $10 for ticket and first bingo board; $5 for additional bingo boards! Community Drop-In Free Ukulele Group (Monday, May 13, at 6-7pm, Kona):

Stop by and join in this community drop-in ukulele group! Collaborative kanikapila style jam session Every 2nd + 4th Monday’s from 6-7pm Beginners to experts, all are welcome! Bring an ukulele. Find out more on FB.

Feast and Fire Lu’au at the Outrigger Kona Resort (Monday, May 13, 5-8pm), Kona):

Whether you live on Big Island or are just visiting, a lu’au is a must for all. If you haven’t been to the Royal Kona Resort for their lu’au, this week is a good time to check it out. Feast on some island fare while Traditions Hawai’i’s award winning cast of dancers, musicians, and artists bring the stage to life through traditional dance, live theater, and music.The luau and dinner show offers a full bar with beer, wine, and our signature Mai Tais. Monday Night Jazz Jam Hilo: (Monday, May 13th, 6-9pm, Hilo)

An all inclusive Jazz Jam with a rotating house band. Created to strengthen the Big Island Jazz community through networking & jamming. Kam Patterson Comedy Special (Tue., May 14; 7:30pm., Kona):

In need of a laugh? Enjoy this standup comedy series at the Kona Elks Lodge. Kam Patterson is a comedian from Orlando who is quickly gaining recognition for his sharp, high-energy sets and effortless crowd work. Learn more here.

East Hawai’i Women’s Network Pau Hana (Tue., May 14; 4:30-6:30pm, Hilo):

Calling all Big Island sister’s to the Hilo Town tavern on Tuesday, May 14, for a special networking pau hana event. Join with other successful business women for a drink and talk story to bond and discuss all things business. Find out more information on FB.

Basic Kratky Hydroponic Bin Class (Wed., May 15; 3pm-5pm, Ainaloa):

Have you ever wanted to learn how to grow your own food? Well this week you can do just that during the Basic Kratky Hydroponic Bin Class. The class is $75 and includes your own reusable 8 produce growing system, nutrients, net pots for 8 heads of produce that will be ready to harvest a month later. Class is limited. Ho’oulu Community Farmers and Artisans Market (Wed., May 15, 9am-2pm, Kona):

Nothing like an outdoor market to start enjoying your week! Every week you can check out this unique outdoor shopping experience featuring local vendors and farmers. Tango Hilo 2024

Puako Tours (Thur., May 16; 10am-2pm, Puako):
