April showers bring May flowers and here we are in another month, springing forward and well into summer, it’s time to celebrate all our mothers!

Henry Kapono Artist2Artist Concert Kalae Parish, Kalenaku, Pat Simmons Jr: (Friday, May 3, 530pm-830pm, Kona)
Multiple award-winning and GRAMMY® nominee, Henry Kapono will be at the Kona Salt Farm with his with his 7th season of his hit Artist 2 Artist Concerts at Kona Salt Farm. Led by the Henry Kapono Foundation, in support of the We Are Friends Maui program, this Friday watch husband and wife Kala & Parish Kalenaku with Maui’s own Pat Simmons Jr. Learn more here.
Huakaʻi at Waikōloa Dry Forest: (Friday, May 3, 5pm-630 pm, Kona)
Visit the Waikoloa Forest Preserve where you can learn about Waikōloa and the unique lowland dry forest on a Huakaʻi. There will be guided hikes to see the ancient wiliwili trees, along with the sweeping views of Kohala, and learn about the native plants in the Waikōloa community. Learn more here.
Fuego Latin Orchestra: (Sunday, May 5, 5-10pm, Kona)
Celebrate Cinco De Mayo and check out live music by the Fuego Latin Orchestra this coming weekend. There will be a margarita bar, taco bar and more. Enjoy traditional dances at the Kamakahonu Ballroom and Foyer in Kona. Tickets are $20.

Huli: (Sunday, May 5, 2-5pm, Honoka’a)

Mālama Healing Festival at Nani Mau Gardens Featuring Anuhea: (Saturday, May 4, 5-1030pm, Hilo)

The Hawai‘i Chrysalis, HAAS, The Arts and Sciences Center and Big Island Pulse, are proud to present ANUHEA and Friends for this all ages benefit concert at NANI MAU GARDENS on Saturday, May 4th! Enjoy performances by James Mcwhinney of Big Mountain, Vibes Up Strong, Peni Dean (former member of Natural Vibrations), Star from The Steppas, and the man Mr. Drew Daniels, and more!

Pops! (Sunday, May 5, 2pm-4pm, Waimea)
The Kamuela Philharmonic is bringing back the much-loved Pops concert to the Kahilu Theatre in Waimea for its 2023/24 season finale. Curated by Artistic Director and Conductor Brian Dollinger, enjoy pops classics and works by Henry Mancini, Frank Sinatra, Morton Gould, Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, and more. Lightning Larry Dupio: (Friday, May 3, 5:30pm, Kawaihae)
Lightning Larry Dupio is a Two-Time Na Hoku Hanohano Award Winner and won Hawaii’s support in the genre for “Rock Album of the Year.” He is also an award winning Blues Guitarist. And you can catch him live this weekend at the Blue Dragon in Kawaihae. For more info visit here.

Monday Night Jazz Jam Hilo: (Monday, May 6th, 6-9pm, Hilo)
An all inclusive Jazz Jam with a rotating house band. Created to strengthen the Big Island Jazz community through networking & jamming. Bring your favorite charts & the instrument of your choice or enjoy the vibrations of people improvising together in the Jazz Tradition, 6-9pm every Monday night. Free for all ages. MORE INFO HERE
Argentine Tango: (Tuesday, May 7th, 7pm-9pm, Hilo)
Learn the basic elements of Argentinian Tango. So that you can dance this elegant dance anywhere in the world! One hour lesson will focus on the Tango walk and embrace. You will learn how to move with fluidity and connection with your partner. Subsequent classes will continue will basic elements to inspire you in this improvisational dance. One hour practice will follow the class.
No partner necessary. We will rotate partners within the class. Please wear dance shoes or socks. We meet every Tuesday from 7-9pm $10 includes 1 hour lesson and 1 hour practica. $35/4 class pass. Classes taught by experienced dancers, Maika and Pavel. MORE INFO HERE
