1 – Henry Kapono at Don’s Mai Tai Bar (Thur., June 20; 5p.m.-7  p.m., Kailua-Kona): Enjoy panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and Kailua Bay at Don’s Mai Tai Bar at the Royal Kona Resort as part of the Legends of Hawaiߵi Music concert series.

This week, you can listen to the sounds of Grammy Nominated and winner of 21Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards Henry Kapono from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

2-BBQ at the Volcano Thursday Market (Thur., June 20; 3 p.m.-6 p.m., Volcano): Try some Hopper’s BBQ pulled pork sandwiches for $10, or a brisket for $15 at the Volcano Market on Thursdays. Learn more on FB here.

3-Bad Papa at the Blue Dragon Tavern (Thur., June 20; 5:30 p.m.-9p.m., Kawaihae): Bad Papa is the award-winning music duo of Jammin Joe Buck and Bob Bojorquez from the Big Island.

Bad Papa is a multi-genre guitar duo that performs their original music along with popular cover songs from the past few decades. They are four times Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award finalists. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Show runs from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and $13 at the door (children 12 and under are free). 4- Ben Aguilar at the Pāpaʻaloa Country Store & Cafe (Thur., June 20; 5:30-7 p.m., Kailua-Kona): Check out Ben Aguilar’s premier night in the Hāmākua-Coast based cafe and bar. Enjoy a variety of tunes including oldies, Hawaiian, reggae, and country covers on the ʻukulele and acoustic guitar. Find more information here.

5 -Solstice Fest Night Market (Fri., June 21; 2 p.m.- 8 p.m., Hōlualoa): The Buddha’s Cup Farm in Hōlualoa is hosting a Solstice Fest Night Market with live entertainment, a drum circle and 20-plus vendors to shop from. The event is free and open to the public.

 6-Ladies That Rock Summer Jams (Fri., June 21; 6 p.m.-10 p.m., Hil0): Head out to Hilo Friday night for ladies night, music, comedy, poetry and more. There will be prizes, raffles and a silent auction to help raise money to fund the event. Located at The Venue. Donations accepted. 7- O-Bon Service and Dance at Honomū Henjoji Mission – A Shingon Buddhist Temple (Sat., June 22; 7 p.m., Honomū): It’s officially Obon Season in Hawai’i.
Head to Honomū Saturday night and enjoy food, drinks, and bon dancing at the Honomū Henjoji Mission. Learn more on FB here
8- The Summer Slide in Pāhoa (Sat., June 22; 10 a.m.- 2 p.m., Pāhoa): Bring the kids out for a day of play-based math and reading activities and let them jump and splash on the inflatable water slides.

9-Brother Noland & special guest Ryan Hooley at The Blue Dragon (Sun., June 23; 6 p.m.-PAU, Kawaihae): Enjoy a night of storytelling and Hawaiian musician with multi-Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award winner Brother Noland and special guest Ryan Hooley.
Brother Noland is an impactful Hawai’i musician and is a storyteller at heart. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door (children 12 and under are free). Purchase tickets at BlueDragonTavern.com.
He is a 2018 Slack Key Kiho’alu Legacy Award winner, and was honored in 2014 by the State of Hawai’i with a “Lifetime Achievement in Music” award.

10-Cooking Class: Bao + Dim Lin Family (Sun., June 23; 2 p.m.-4 p.m., Hilo): Create your own steamed rice rolls with choices of beef, pork, shrimp, or veggies. There will be a demonstration by Chef Bill Lin who will guide you through preparing the perfect Beef Broccoli Cake Noodle. Tickets are on sale at the YMCA office. $40 cash only. Space limited. 11-Improv Class at Hilo Town Market (Mon., June 24; 6 p.m.-8 p.m., Hilo): Experience a 6-week improv comedy workshop taught by Keli Semelsberger, founder of Big Island Comedy Theater. Keauhou KidX Club Celebrates Make Music Day (Fri., June 21; 4 p.m.-6 p.m.,  Keauhou): June’s Keauhou Shopping Center’s KidX Club event will take place this Friday with Make Music Hawaiʻi Day in the courtyard from 4 p.m. until to 6 p.m. Expect music-themed crafts and hula at 6 pm. No registration needed. KidX Club is for keiki between the ages of 4 and 11. Learn more here.

Beginner Youth Summer Sailing (Mon., June 24-27th; 8 a.m.- 3 p.m., Kawaihae South Harbor):

For eligible youths (see eligibility requirements) ages 14-17, classes, with a maximum of 10 students, are held as weekly sessions. While one session is needed to successfully complete a class and demonstrate basic sailing proficiency and boating safety, sailors can learn at their own pace and may benefit from more than one session. For more information and application visit Sailing page  Register here.
