From his humble beginning during Robert Mugabe’s regime in Zimbabwe, he has blasted his powerful Afro-infused sound around the World for over twenty years; rocking audiences from NYC’s Irving Plaza to sold out stadiums in South Africa and Sydney Australia’s famous Opera House. He has released over a dozen albums; scored the soundtrack for three films; and has been collaborating and performing with some of the World’s best performers like Eminem, Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann, Senegalese Afro-Pop sensation Yousoou N’dour, Cuban Legends Los Munequitos de Mantanzas, Jazz artist Paul Winter, Jamaican rhythm and production duo Sly (Dunbar) and Robbie (Shakespeare), Fugee’s producer Handel Tucker, and many more.
Under the tutelage of masters, Chris began playing the sacred rhythms of Africa at a young age. He has continued to do so for the the past 38 years, living with the Shona people of Zimbabwe for 10 years and performing throughout 24 different countries in Africa. Now, as a celebrated composer and Grammy award winner, Chris has turned his focus to creating rhythms for healing and expansion, bridging the ancient wisdom of African music to Western culture.

MOONFIRE
Dance is a journey. It’s up to you to determine the destination. Music is the vehicle. An expression of infinite variation that can touch any point in time and space. And all the movers and shakers on the Big Island know to be prepared for new worlds to explore when Moonfire is at the helm of the ship. On warm currents of organic sounds, Moonfire transports dancers across a multi-textured soundscape layered with tribal beats and rhythmic world fusion.
Moonfire has been a force of nature on the local dance scene since the fabled “Full Moon Party” days, when she was a young dancer with a passion for world beats that propelled her from the dance floor to the decks. Honing her craft on turntables at renegade parties that magically appeared all over the island, her music was mixed with the beauty of the island surrounding it — crashing waves, whistling winds, twinkling stars, chirping frogs, singeing whales, and whatever else Mother nature brought to the show.
From those wild days, Moonfire’s flames grew until they consumed the speakers of our favorite local dance events– weekly gatherings like Ecstatic Dance and Bee Dance, as well as private campouts like Petting Zoo and CandyLand.
Often, it takes a dancer to know what the dance floor desires. Moonfire nurtures the senses with her feminine round sound. Conveying a sense of the divine with roots in spiritually lifting instrumentals, drumming, and chanting. Curvaceous melodies with big bass drops that celebrate both the ceremony and raw impulses of dance.
