Miyo Izakaya to host special Mother’s Day Dinner

Hilo’s own Chef Louis Pauole is hosting a special, one-night only, Mother’s Day Omakase at 5 p.m. and again at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 12 at Miyo’s Restaurant and Izakaya Bar.

Featuring a seven-course meal, with dishes infused with locally-grown ingredients, Pauole said he created this special event to celebrate the depth of flavors found only in Hawai’i on this special day. .

“This menu celebrates the diversity of our island cuisine in an elevated manner,” he said.

On the menu includes an Amuse bouche, a Japanese donut with yuzu shiso aioli butter cream and Kaluga caviar; a Hokkaido Scallop (Raw), Semi cured with sal and /sugar, a coconut vinaigrette with coconut milk, vinegar, sake, and Kombu, cilantro, garlic oil, pickled onions, crispy ginger, coriander powder; Soup Dumplings with ground pork with spinach; a Dashi Nigiri trio with Kohada, Otoro and Shima-aji; an Intermezzi (yuzu sorbet  and champagne);  Japanese Red Snapper with coriander, salt with a lobster tomato bisque foam;  Herbed couscous with Hamakua mushrooms; Kona Lobster Tail with a Beurre monte sauce (sake, thyme lemon garlic);  Japanese A5 Wagyu beef

With red wine demi, parsnip puree, sous vide egg yolk, tomato relish and candied pepper corn hazelnut; a dessert, a Zen scape with stacked stones (three flavors) and a macaroon to take home, made from a talented local baker.

Seats are limited. Cost per ticket is $150.
