EL SANCHO has been performing around the Big Island since 2019, and is releasing their third album Heads Up! this spring. They play fast, fun punk rock with a sense of humor. They’ve played with bands like Supersuckers, D.I., D.O.A., The Cutthroat Brothers and more. Their music has been featured on SiriusXM, Huffington Post and college radio stations across the country.

UNDERCITY KINGS, from Oahu, initially formed in 1981 in Canoga Park, California as part of the infamous “Nardcore” scene. In the early 80s they were featured on the Mystic Records compilation album It Came from Slimey Valley. Bassist Todd Mitchell later moved to Hawaii and played in the Oahu-based band ANTI-MATTER. In 2022 he reformed Undercity Kings with a new lineup including Tami Mitchell on vocals, Daniel Way on guitar and Chris Pawling on drums.

SUPERSPREADERS, also from Oahu, hail themselves as “the worst band in the America today” but their 25-song demo Surfdrinkrehearse (released 2022, available on Bandcamp.com) begs to differ. The majority of the tracks on Surfdrinkrehearse are covers, showing that their influences are firmly rooted in early punk and hardcore bands like Descendents, Suicidal Tendencies, the Ramones and Reagan Youth. Superspreaders want you to know that “the music they play is too fast and too loud and seeing them live will ruin your life.”

LAZZZER BULLET (yes that’s three Zs) is a new Hilo-based band featuring former members of Step on the People and the Oceanographers, and comedian Brian Rupp. Vocalist Sam Estes describes the band as “eclectic” with a mix of influences from 1980’s hardcore to southern blues. This will be the band’s debut performance.
