1st Annual Puna Community Health & Wellness Fair

The Puna Community Medical Center Foundation (PCMCF) will be coordinating the 1st Annual Puna Community Health & Wellness Fair at Pahoa High School!!  This FREE community event increases public awareness around the severe need for access to primary care health services in Puna, including access to Radiology (Imaging) & Mental/Behavioral services.  The fair will provide community members with a variety of free health screenings and public health education activities, including vision screenings, BP Checks, and prize giveaways!  Hawai’i Island community projects & initiatives around rural healthcare will be shared by some amazing guest speakers, including local Health Professionals and Community Representatives, who will discuss the current state of healthcare in Puna and the plans to improve the overall health and access to primary care services for the community.

Several organizations have already committed to participating in the event and will be providing a variety of free health services & activities!  Ideally, we want to have as many participants from our Hawai’i Island Healthcare Network as possible, and volunteers are greatly appreciated.  Here are a few activities that will be happening on 11/9, and we hope to add many more!

• Free Vision Screenings & prescription glasses/sunglasses giveaway by Project Vision Hawai’i and their Mobile Vision Screening Unit!
  
• Blood Pressure/Respiratory Checks by Puna Community Medical Center 
  
• Chest-Compression Only CPR & AED hands-on education and practice through the Hilo Medical Center Foundation & Hawai’i Island Pre-Health Career Corps
  
• La’au Lapa’au Native Hawaiian Healing Techniques
• Rat Lung Worm Education, & More!!!
