From a live comedy show at Hilo’s own Palace Theater to festivals, there are plenty of things to do and see this coming week on Big Island.

1- Volcano Thursday Market (Thur., July, 18; 3 p.m.- 6 p.m., Volcano): Whether you live in Volcano or are just looking for something to do this Thursday evening, head to this Christmas in July market and check out the local arts, vendors, and produce for purchase. The market will be located at 19-4030 Wright Road in Volcano.
2 – Honoka’a High School 135 Years Celebration Block Party (Fri., July 19; 5 p.m.- 10 p.m., Honoka’a): Listen to the live music of Hawai’i’s own Ho’aikane and enjoy plenty of food, fun and activities this Friday night in Honoka’a.
3-Ladies that Rock (Fri., July 19; 9 p.m., Hilo): More live music action for everyone in Hilo this Friday night at The VENUE in downtown Hilo. Enjoy two bands, three solo artists, an Improv Comedy show, and an open mic. Tickets are only $10 in advance and $15 at the door. 4-Tumua at the Hilo Palace Theater (Sat., July 20; 7:30 p.m. & 9 p.m., Hilo): Who doesn’t love a good laugh? Head to The Palace Theater this weekend to see the famous Tumua comedian live in person. Tickets start at $45. Learn more here.
5- 40th Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park Hawaiian Cultural Festival (Sat., July 20; 10 a.m.- 3 p.m., Volcano):The 40th Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park Hawaiian Cultural Festival is happening in Kahuku on Saturday and it’s free! Head to the volcano and check out a vibrant lineup of local performers, hula performances and engaging Hawaiian arts and craft demonstrations. Bring water, sun protection, and a rain jacket. Sunscreen, a hat and a ground mat or chair are recommended. Learn more here.
6-La ‘Ohana o Pohoiki Festival(Sat., July 20; 10 a.m.- 4 p.m., Pohoiki): The La ‘Ohana o Pohoiki Festival is a celebration and gathering for the generational ʻohana of Pohoiki and all ʻohana. Enjoy a diverse range of workshops, performances, and exhibitors. This event is organized by Na Maka Haloa and Hua ‘Āina in collaboration with the County of Hawai’i and Kamehameha Schools. 7-Grand Naniloa Hotel Pāwehi Hō’ike (Sun., July 21; 5:45 p.m..- 8:15 p.m., Hilo): Enjoy the Pāwehi Hō’ike Sunday, a partnership with Island Breeze Productions and Hālau Ka Lehua Pua Kamaehu, and Grand Naniloa Hotel Hilo, that includes a tribute to music, hula and the various Polynesian cultures that make Hawai’i special. 8-Mokuleʻia Day Camp (Mon., July 22-26th; 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Hilo): This summer camp for children finishing grades first-fifth includes water play, arts and crafts, team building and field trips to places such as the Hawai’i Botanical Garden, Panaewa Rainforest Zoo and more! 9–He Ehu, He Pōhaku ┃Of Mist and Stone Curated by Kanani Daley (Ongoing until July 26; 6 p.m., Hilo): Only a week left to check out the latest exhibit at the East Hawai’i Cultural Center in downtown Hilo. Head to the EHCC and see the exhibit while you can. Also, you may want to stop by this weekend (July 20) and see Redeeming Māhū: Deconstructing and Reconstructing Māhū with Hawaiian Mindfulness.
