A few months ago, a co-worker introduced me to the Salt & Pepper Crispy Chicken from East Wind on Lanikaula Street. The way she described it during an office meeting literally made my mouth start watering. I love Chinese food, but sometimes find it to be too greasy. She assured me that this dish was not at all greasy and was very crunchy, so I ordered it the very next day. When I opened the clamshell container, I was pleasantly surprised to see fried basil among the little crispy chicken pieces. And she was right – not greasy, but so yummy!
Last week I had a hankering for something crispy and flavorful, but healthier than typical fast food. My mind immediately went to East Wind’s Salt & Pepper Crispy Chicken. This time, I ordered a side of pork fried rice to go with it. Again, the chicken was fantastic, and the pork fried rice had small strips of pork in it, rather than minced or cubed. Both dishes were so good, and the portions were so big that they fed me and my family for two meals!
