Deogi is a wonderful lab mix who was diagnosed as heartworm positive last year. Lisa, our fantastic volunteer, took Deogi in as we expected Deogi not to live much more than six months or so. Well, this girl surprised us and is thriving!
Deogi is now heartworm negative, but the effects of the disease are still evident. She has a big, round belly and will be on medication for the rest of her life. For her size, she should weigh about 35-40 pounds, instead she is closer to 60 pounds because of the excess fluid she carries. This is why it is so important to test for heartworms and use a monthly preventative.
Deogi is available for adoption. She is a sweetheart who needs a soft place to lay her head and a family who can give her lots of love and affection. Deogi is between 3 and 5 years old and needs minimal exercise, a walk in the morning and the evening will do just fine. KARES will continue to cover all of Deogi’s medical expenses, including her monthly medications.
